Our next blog feature was held in September of 2018 at The Capen House. We helped Josh and Chelsea plan a beautiful and creative Beauty and the Beast-inspired wedding. We loved how they drew from the classic story to add subtle touches to their wedding, from the centerpieces made of books to the simple rose boutonniere. Join us in recalling their “tale as old as time”, with photos courtesy of Ashley Jane Photography!
Chelsea began the day with her bridesmaids, with hair and makeup done by Marissa Tharp. Each girl had a chic updo with some loose strands in front, as well as a natural and simple makeup look. Chelsea then got dressed in her gorgeous gown featuring lots of lace detail. Meanwhile, Josh and his groomsmen got ready in their blue suits, with Josh featuring a single red rose made of paper as a boutonniere.
The ceremony was set up on the lawn at The Capen House in Winter Park, Florida. The ceremony was lovely, with emotion clear on Josh and Chelsea’s faces when she made her grand entrance as the bride. They exchanged vows, shared a kiss, and were proclaimed husband and wife.
Josh and Chelsea then met quickly with their wedding party during cocktail hour to capture a few group shots. We loved how Chelsea’s bridesmaids held bouquets of white flowers, while Chelsea’s was accented with deep reds to stand apart. All of their bouquets were masterfully crafted by Bluegrass Chic.
Meanwhile, the reception space was set up inside the Capen House. The seating charts were set up for guests to find their seats, with names listed inside of books. At the tables, each guest’s name was also written on a bookmark at their place. The centerpieces also featured stacks of books, with roses placed on top. We loved the subtle incorporation of their inspiration into every detail.
The reception began with Josh and Chelsea’s announcement for the first time as a married couple. They then shared their first dance together, followed by father-daughter and mother-son dances. Following a round of toasts, the buffet dinner was served by Levan’s Catering. One of the most fun touches of the night came in the form of the Midnight Sun Ice Cream Truck, serving up specialty ice cream sandwiches. As the night drew to a close, the bride and groom tossed their respective bouquet and garter.
The night ended with the perfect grand exit: the guests tossed cones of rose petals onto the bride and groom as they left the building. The happy couple shared one last kiss, then hopped into their car, decorated with the words “just married” and lots of fun additions.
We wish Josh and Chelsea nothing but the best, and are so grateful to have been a part of their big day! Thanks to our wonderful vendors and venues that made this day so fabulous:
