Our next wedding feature brings us to late October of 2019, when we joined Shae and Brian at the Cypress Grove Estate for their whimsical outdoor wedding. This wedding had some of our favorite decorative touches, with a very Alice in Wonderland-esque tea party theme. Thanks to the gorgeous photography of Fox Grove Films, we’re so thrilled to share their day with you!
The day began at Cypress with hair and makeup for the ladies, done by Jazz it Up Artistry. Our bride, Shae, then stepped into her gorgeous gown, with a layer of sheer lace and cap sleeves. Meanwhile, the gentlemen got ready downstairs. After raising a glass to the day, the men were dressed in suits and suspenders, with fun red bow ties. We loved the touch of having the groom and groomsmen in matching Ninja Turtles socks.
As the ceremony drew closer, the wedding party stepped outside for final touches. The ladies received their colorful bouquets from Flowers by Lesley, while the men received their boutonnieres. Shae had her veil pinned on, then met with Brian for a not-quite-first-look. We love the idea of this – the couple gets a moment together before the ceremony, but the groom turns his back so he can’t see the bride. It’s the perfect way to compromise if you want to be together before the ceremony, but want the first look to happen at the ceremony.
As guests arrived at the estate, they were able to sign the photo guest book. This is one of our favorite recent trends: an Instax camera is provided to print out Kodiak-style photos, which guests can then place in the book and sign next to. After signing, the guests then made their way outside, where the ceremony was set. Flowers by Lesley did a beautiful job of bringing color and whimsy to the ceremony space.
The ceremony began, and Shae made her way down the aisle to Brian. The look of joy and surprise on Brian’s face was one to remember! Shae and Brian exchanged vows and rings, then sealed the deal with a kiss, and were pronounced husband and wife. They then made their way out to applause.
The newlyweds then met with their photographer to capture a few more photos together, both by themselves and with the excited wedding party. At one point, it started to rain a bit (classic Florida!), but this didn’t bother Brian and Shae. They kept taking pictures and improvised, using a couple umbrellas to create some truly unique and memorable moments.
The reception space was set on the grass, underneath a tent to protect everyone from the rain. It was absolutely one of the most gorgeous set-ups we’ve seen. Bright, colorful flowers were everywhere – set on tables, on top of lanterns, in tea cup candelabras, in teapots, in birdcages. Some of the centerpieces were placed on books, with a feeling very reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland. The rustic wooden tables glowed with candles, and furniture rentals from RW Style kept the aesthetic consistent. The entire space was warm, inviting, and fun.
In one corner stood the cake, an absolute feat by baker Denise Gibson. With three layers going in opposite directions, decorated with elaborate flowers, this was one of the most impressive cakes we’ve seen.
The reception flew by in a flurry of fun: the bride and groom shared their first dance, then parent dances; toasts were given and glasses were raised; the cake was cut; everyone danced to music provided by Rhythm of the Night; and the bouquet and garter were tossed. Sadly all good things must come to an end, but our bride and groom had a sweet ending in mind.
The night ended with a bubble-blowing grand exit. The guests blew bubbles onto our newlyweds as they bid farewell to their loved ones, stepping into their getaway car from Apollo’s Chariots.
Many thanks to Shae and Brian for choosing us for your big day, and to all the other vendors that brought their vision to life!
