Our next blog feature brings us back to November of 2018, to the brunch wedding of Lindsey and Nicholas. We loved bringing together a natural aesthetic and fun brunch-y touches to their wedding, from the wooden “escort cards” to the donut display from Donut Central. The Capen House was the perfect setting for their day, photographed beautifully by Kristen Weaver Photography.
The day began with Lindsey and Nick getting ready separately. Lindsey was dressed in her beautiful white gown, with lots of detailing at the top. Her makeup and sleek updo were done by Laura Reynolds Artistry, and her blooming white bouquet was arranged by Bluegrass Chic. Meanwhile, Nick got dressed in his classic black suit and tie. Rather than having a full first look, Lindsey and Nick chose to have a moment before without Nick seeing Lindsey. It offered a sweet moment for them to connect before the wedding, while still keeping Lindsey’s grand reveal a surprise for later.
When guests arrived at the Capen House, they were greeted by a sign that welcomed them to take a seat on either side. This is definitely a trend of modern weddings; while in the past there was a “groom’s side” and “bride’s side”, now modern couples prefer to allow open seating at ceremonies. After signing the guest book and passing by the card & gift table, the guests took their seats in the grass, their eyes on the beautiful draped archway at the end of the aisle.
Before long, Lindsey was walking down the aisle to meet her groom. We always love seeing the first look on groom’s faces, and Nick’s did not disappoint. The ceremony went by smoothly, with one small hiccup – you never know when the wind is going to swoop in and cause a little mayhem! Fortunately it was a quick fix, but we loved the genuine reaction of Lindsey and Nick, and how they didn’t let it ruin the moment. Overall, those little moments are the best ones in weddings, the ones that you’ll look back and smile about in years to come. After exchanging vows and sharing a kiss, Lindsey and Nick walked back down the aisle and shared a quick photo in front of the venue. It was time for the reception!
The reception space was prepared underneath a beautiful clear tent. Guests were invited to find their seats at natural wooden tables with long white runners, from Orlando Wedding & Party Rentals. We loved the natural touch of having their escort cards as small polished pieces of wood. There was also a fun personal touch at every table – the centerpieces included photos of the bride and groom throughout their relationship.
The reception began with toasts from loved ones. After raising a glass, the guests were welcomed to enjoy the delicious brunch buffet. They were also welcome to enjoy the photo booth from Flash by KWP, featuring lots of fun themed props. The reception was topped off with a perfect brunch treat – rather than a wedding cake, the bride and groom shared an assortment of wedding donuts from Donut Central!
Before saying goodbye to their guests, Lindsey and Nick shared a private moment by the dock of Capen House, one of our favorite spots for portraits. They then returned for their grand exit, in which guests were given bubbles to blow. It was a fun and whimsical way to end their daytime wedding.
Congratulations to Lindsey and Nick, and thank you for choosing us to be a part of your day! Much love and gratitude to all the vendors that made it possible:
